Extended Remixes - Great Gay Club Music and Gym Workout Tunes

Whether on the gym floor - or out bouncing up and down on a Gay dance music club floor - we need time. More time to get into and work the dancing groove, or to progress through multiple reps and sets during weight-training and exercises. We need more time... to get Fabulous! This sampling of Loved-By-Gays music tracks deserve a place on your iGadget or MP3 player.

I'm particularly fond of EXTENDED remixes for my workouts. You know, instead of the commercial airplay 3-4 minute radio edits, the extra-long club mix versions that really take a music track through a great progression. One of my favorite remix artists is Jody Den Broeder. Perhaps the best example is his work on Lady Gaga's breakout hit: Poker Face (Jody den Broeder Remix)- Really a great exercise warmup tune that runs a long, perfect 8+ minutes.

Ditto for the Den Broeder remix of the 2008 Grammy Award winning song from Rihanna - Umbrella (Featuring Jay-Z)- Give the sample a listen! At over 9 minutes it adds a great pace and tempo to what was NOT a good track for Gay club dance floors in it's original, uninspired slow, plodding version - but became AWESOME in the remix.

Amongst dozens of remixes - My clear fave is the 7+ minute version of Pussycat Dolls alumni - Nicole Scherzinger's Don't Hold Your Breath (Dave Aude Remix)- It really is a standout rendition.

Although Aude did a mix of Jessica Sutta's hit - it pales compared to this particular version by Rosario that Queer club kids love: Show Me (Ralphi Rosario Club Mix) Like Nicole, Jessica is once again proof that quitting - or being thrown out of - The Pussycat Dolls can lead to some even more memorable and danceable music tracks reverberating through Gay dance clubs and iPod headphones long afterwards.

David Morales and Lea Lorien knock it out of the park with the Rauhofer remix : How Would U Feel (Peter Rauhofer Club Mix) Listen closely and your ears might pick up on what a great potential MASHUP the chord progression would be if matched-up with Madonna's 'Sorry'.

Speaking of which; Grand Master Paul Oakenfold deserves kudos for his long-version of Madonna's Sorry (Paul Oakenfold Remix) Again when multiple, very talented mixmaster's take a stab at it - some are 'good', some are ok but just 'ain't quite right'. Oakenfold nails this one.

G-Force Workout For Muscle Bear Wanna-Be's

I wasn't there in class for the photo shoot that day. In fact I hadn't even started Ted Guice's G-Force fitness class at that point. I was just 'working up the courage to TRY his class someday' - You know, when I felt I was finally in good-enough condition to get through a WHOLE HOUR of fast-paced, cardio-pumping, heart-throbbing, try not to go into Tachycardia and end up in the E.R. sort of physical fitness I keep trying to achieve.

The first few GForce workout classes I only lasted 20 minutes. But I tried. And eventually I lasted for 40 minutes before the dreaded 'Get out of the exercise room before he kills you!!!' sort of muscular and pulmonary distress hit it's peak. This was Gawd's way of saying: "You are still an overweight, out of shape Bear." But I didn't let that discourage me.

Are You Man Enough To Handle These???

Okay, so 2 months into this, I may still only be using #2 PINK dumbbells but at least I am now lasting the WHOLE HOUR and emerge from Ted's G-Force class curiously exhausted, soaked in sweat -- and totally dreading the next classes on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

As Ted says: "We don't stop. We never quit. We keep going. Why?!? Because our G-Force class kicks ass!"

And so it goes. Another day at the Fabulously Gay World Gym Palm Springs. Another day in the life of an aging, 54 year old, 'I-should-decided-I-wanna-be-a-Muscle-Bear-20-years-ago -- And now, I'm getting my ass kicked' kind of guy.

What's A Meat-O? Why A MuscleBear In A Speedo!

Gotta love 'em: Bears in Speedos - Beefy Muscle Bear Speedo Briefs and Swim Suits for Bear hairy men. They say 'Less Is More' - Especially when it comes to packing a guy packing into the least amount of Lycra Spandex possible - and still be street-legal.

Give Till It Hurts, Bear

My pal Steven runs that front desk at the gym with an Iron-Fist: He has to - in order to control those Men Of Iron. From his bird's eye view get's to watch the Hustle of Muscle out there on floor day after day. I'm sure he see's What Men Have. What Men Want. What Men Don't But Wish They Did... a bit more clearer than I certainly do. Ergo, a recent blog post:  Last Minute Gift Ideas for Gay Men - Fabulous Gifts for Guys (Part II)...

Not to be out done by that clever, clever man: I retaliated with my own hit-list of gifts for the Gay Muscle Bears in your life.

Ted - That Personal Fitness Trainer at World Gym Palm Springs

In this picture. Ted. He looks like a Nice Guy. He really does. And he really is. Except....
...when he gets your Furry Bear Butt into his 'G-Force' exercise class at World Gym in Palm Springs, California.

Welcome to Ted G's House-Of-Dues. It's then when he turns into THE Palm Springs personal trainer from hell that you'll love to hate. Because he'll make you do pushups. And dumbbell squats and combination fly and press moves until your muscles hurt real good. And then he'll run your ass around the gym's track in case your heart-rate was beginning to settle down - which is not allowed.

You have to go back into the fitness class room after your laps since the hour isn't over. That was just a refreshing jog between the NEXT set of exercises you'll be doing. You do need to do MORE exercise because you are a fat, hairy Bear who got out of shape and are now paying the price for your carbo-loading misspent months of inactivity.

He said he'd 'Go easy on me, sorta a little bit, but don't get used to it' for the first two weeks so that my body has time to freak-out and suffer and adjust. That is to say, I can't wait till the next class. This coming Thursday, 10am.

Muscle And Fur Induced Depression

Sometimes, a picture is worth a thousand words.

There. I said it. And now I feel depressed.

A New Sport - Whisker Wars - Beard Team USA

Just when you thought there really hasn't been a new sport invented since, uh, the Hackey-Sack... Our bearded bretheren are going after it with a vengeance.

Clothes may 'Make the Man' - but if you remove those - a man's whiskers are all he has left to style, or hide behind. And then you have those who grow it to show it. Hence the World Beard and Moustache Championships going on this month in Norway.

American BEARD OLYMPIAN and the author of The Facial Hair Handbook- Jack Passion seems likely to be serving up a face full of 'U Can't Touch This' again in 2011.

Team USA stole a lot of titles last year - and from this video - you can see they're hellbent to do it again.
